Quality Technician - Job Specification
Overall Purpose of the Role:
• Assist/support the Quality Assurance Manager by providing quality assurance/quality control expertise within the quality management & operational system requirements.
• Ensure that the product meets / exceeds customer's requirements (both internal and external) at each stage of its manufacturing process, carrying out relevant testing and where necessary take corrective / preventive action to rectify non-conformance and potential issues.
• Monitoring and reporting on all quality related issues, process data, ensuring the Quality Management System requirements are adhered to at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
General and Task Management
• Carry out product and/or material tests throughout the manufacturing processes to defined procedures/standards, formally reporting all non-conformances/defects
• Provide technical support in the areas of GI inspection, Material preparation, and machining Quality support activities
• Responsible for the production part approval process of new and / or EC products.
• Audit Planning and execution of all processes within the framework of the quality management system and manufacturing processes.
• Investigate & reporting of product/process quality related issues to identify root cause and initiate corrective / preventive action and ensure issues are addressed, followed-up and resolved.
• Assist/ Support the Quality Manager with the compliance and adherence of the Quality Management system, with special reference to ISO 9001 & ISO/TS 16949: 2009
• Review current inspection methods / documentation and propose new methods to support and improve product quality.
• Assist / Support the Quality Manager with the co-ordination and effective implementation of Quality core tools (APQP; FMEA's; Control plans; Process flows etc.).
• Responsible for the maintenance and control of the monitoring and measuring equipment system (MSA).
• Attend and report at regular (weekly) meetings, potential improvements of external and internal quality related actions.
• Collate all product and process quality information and data and report to the Quality Manager on a weekly basis.
• Ensure all incidents of product /process non-conformance are recorded.
• Produce management feedback on key performance in areas of responsibility
• Undertake and support special projects as and when required
• Contribute to continuous improvement activities
• Support and participate in process improvement activities
• Plan projects or subtasks so they may be tracked and presented
• Familiarise and support and where appropriate improve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions
• Undertake continuous training and development
• Comply with the Company, Health, Safety and Environmental Policies
Required Skills
• Experience and working knowledge of Quality core tools (APQP; PPAP; FMEA's; MSA)
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
• Implementation Knowledge of TS16949
• Knowledge of ISO9001
• Understanding of ISO14001
• Understanding & Interpretation of engineering drawings (metric & Inches)
• Understanding engineering/manufacturing processes
